Wind Shaft
How can I remove a bobbin that is stuck on the winding shaft of a Viking Sewing Machine 545?
I put a new bobbin on the shaft of my Viking Sewing Machine 545 and when I went to remove it it would not budge. I have tried pulling this and that and it still will not come off the shaft! Help Please!
This machine was purchased new in 2001 by my Mom (she saved the reciept!) and I recently inherited it. I have been sewing for 40+ years just not on a fancy quilting/embroidery machine. I am thinking of taking a look to see if I can take off the cover and see if a thread is stuck somewhere??
I know my older machine always needed a good cleaning, does anyone know how to clean this newer type of machine?? Thanks again!
This is one of those instances where I’d suggest hauling it back to the dealer. It’s still under warranty (and if they haven’t changed the terms, it’ll still be under warranty for about 11 more years). If it hasn’t had a professional cleaning in that time, it’s due for one — there are bits you can’t get to without voiding the warranty by opening the sealed portions of the case.
Chances are, however, that the tech may be able to just pop the bobbin off. If it’s an exposed winder like the one on my 350, I’d consider just sacrificing the bobbin in a pinch, but I’ll bet the OSMG (Old Sewing Machine Guy/Gal/Guru) in the shop can get it off with minimal fuss and bother.
