In commercial restaurants you will often find 16 gauge stainless steel being used. The price of stainless steel ranges from $85 to $200 per square foot.
If your kitchen countertop is made of stainless steel, you will have no problems with cleaning and maintenance. Stainless steel countertops are very easy to clean because of their highly non-porous metal structure. Since water cannot cause rust and corrosion on stainless steel, the countertop surface will always look clean even after a long time. But you still need to take good care of their surfaces. Once you see water spots on their surface, wipe them off right away. If you will let them linger on the surface, they will leave ugly water spots which are harder to remove. The same thing goes with dirt and grime. Don’t let them harden before your remove them. If that happens, you might even cause accidental scratches on the surface as you try to clean them out.
