Stainless Steel Gold
I’m getting my ears pierced soon, but I want to get earrings that aren’t irritating. Any suggestions?
I’m so afraid that my ears will have an allergic reaction to the earrings or their backings. My stud choices are 14kt gold, titanium, stainless steel, gold plated, or 14kt white gold. Which one can be guaranteed not to irritate my ears?
Gold is horrible for fresh piercings, not only is most gold jewelry plated nickle which after a time leeches through, the gold itself is a soft metal which nicks easily, which allows for a build up of bacteria. Titanium is the BEST for a fresh (or any) piercing. Also, make sure you’re NOT going to a place that the mall like claire’s that uses a piercing gun, their jewelry is low quality and the piercing guns can’t be sterilized and spread diseases and infections, in addition they use blunt force trauma to rip a hole through your body and they’re associates have ZERO piercing training (half of them are still in high school). Just go to a proper shop and you should have no problems. Check out www.safepiercing.org for a list of APP certified piercers in your area.
