The are made of woven ballistic nylon, and are in one piece so they thread through the watch lugs rather than being attached by spring bars. Also, they have no buckle so the loose end must be configured in a sort of over/under knot, like a knapsack fastener would be. Lately, they are very popular, especially with military styled watches.
