Anole lizards for dummies?
So, I was at the Petsmart today, and I saw these little guys. I thought they were petty awesome, and I’ve always wanted a lizard. I was going to get one, but then it occurred to me that I have no idea how to care for one. I don’t have much money, and was wandering what the best setup for just one anole lizard would be. Do they need both a UV and a heat lamp or will just a UV lamp be enough? Please leave any details about what should be in the cage. One of my biggest questions is what do I use for bedding? Do I have to feed it live crickets or is there an alternative? Thanks guys.

Anyway you’ll need a 10+ gallon tank. They are 10-13$ new but you may be able to find one for cheaper if not free on craigslist. You’ll also need a screen lid. Both a basking bulb (for heat) and a UVB bulb for aiding in calcium processing are needed.
For inside the tank you’ll want branches and leaves for the anole to climb on and hide in. You’ll want one under the basking light as a basking spot. The substrate should be humidity producing so bed-a-beast and other dirts.
Anoles eat live. The dried crickets are not very nutritious and many animals don’t eat them.
