Christians: What is a mantel/mantle and how does it relate to voice and sound?
A child I know recently said she started screaming during some prayer event when someone placed a bible on her chest. Some of the members claimed she had a mantle/mantel that “sounded” similar to another member’s. What was the purpose for this event and what did she think was happening to her and why did she react by screaming? Thank you.
In some Christian circles a “mantle” is supposed to represent a prophetic gifting. It comes from this passage.
1 Kings 19:19 So he departed from there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he was with the twelfth. Then Elijah passed by him and threw his mantle on him.
As to a child screaming when someone placed a Bible on her chest it sounds like some other spirit than the Holy Spirit is at work in that assembly.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
In many of the sign seeking assemblies there is evidence that counterfeit spirits are at work deceiving people into thinking that the Spirit of God is at work. Certainly the Spirit of God would not cause someone to cry out because the Word of God had been placed on their chest.
