It has to be said that leather certainly seems to hold an enduring place in fashion, and especially fashion related to a man. The history of leather as a man’s fashion statement, in fact, probably goes back to the time when the first man clothed themselves in the material as a means of protection, including when they put it on their feet in order to protect their soles.

As people began to form up into societies, makers of leather goods began to turn their eyes towards producing not only very utilitarian objects such as belts and shoes but also decorate clothing such as vests or pants, even. All will share similar characteristics, especially the leather itself, which comes from the skin of an animal. Today, it can be found in objects as diverse as baseball gloves and the seats of automobiles, as a matter of fact.

Generally speaking, there really doesn’t seem to be an area in sport or fashion where leather hasn’t had an effect. It can serve purely functional and utilitarian uses or it can serve purely fashionable uses.
