She Applied For A Job At The Store
She stepped out of the shower and decided to wear one of her favorite shirts for girls. It was plaid and businesslike. She tried to stand in front of the air conditioner to stay cool as she put on her shirt.
She selected a skirt that matched the plaid shirt. Then she put on a gold watch, gold bracelet and matching gold earrings. She wanted to be well dressed. Of course, she would wear her favorite pieces of jewelry. She needed to look fashionable.
She filled her brown leather hobo bag with car keys, wallet and all the things she needed to take. She matched a pair of brown leather shoes to the purse. She checked for runs in her pantyhose. It was imperative that she look coordinated today.
Earlier, she had set out her women’s brown boots and saw that they looked a little shabby. She put on her shoes and noticed that it was quarter to two. Her interview was scheduled for 3:00 PM. She got in carefully to stay neat and unwrinkled. She wanted to have a neat appearance.
She sat straight and drove carefully. She had the radio on and All the single ladies blasted out of the speakers. That song always made her smile. I plan to buy a lot of CDs after I cash a paycheck, she mused.
Her passion was popular music. She was a big fan of American Idol and watched it all, even the reruns. She even took the time to vote. She knew the names of Susan Boyle over in England and Chris Doughtry who sold so many CDs after coming in second a few years ago. She even remembered William Hung.
He was the young guy who sang terribly but was so earnest about it, everyone loved him. He did not win. However, he made a CD and sold quite a few copies. He earned enough money to take singing lessons, but he was a one hit wonder.
She parked the car and saved the ticket as she memorized the floor and location her car was left in. One time she had spent hours wandering through a parking structure. Never again she told herself and that is why she was so careful each time she parked.
Into the store she went. She had twenty minutes to go before her appointment for the interview. I hope he or she likes me she repeated over and over to herself. She stopped at the food bar and ordered a soda. I can sit here and relax until I meet the person who will be my new boss. She felt confident she would get the job as clerk in the perfume and make-up department of her favorite store.
