Cobalt Blue
My hammers cobalt blue lobster is about to have babies any idea what to do with all of them when they hatch?
I only have a 29 gallon tank so I cant keep them. Should I get another tank to put them in until they are bigger?
How did I know someone would say to eat them! They are actually crayfish and I know some people eat those but I prefer crab legs.
I am specifically wondering about selling them. Does any one have experience with this?
Well, from what I’ve read, there has to be a male to donate sperm to her that she stores. Do you have a male? If you don’t, then these eggs won’t be fertile and won’t hatch. So, when she broods, you should remove them so they don’t foul the water.
EDIT: But then, I just read that female lobsters can store sperm for up to 2 years. So, she may have fertile eggs…. interesting. Also, they carry the eggs inside for a year and outside for another year. Has she already been carrying them for a year? Nevertheless, if you don’t want these, you could try to sell them, but lobsters can produce around 8000 eggs. And in an aquarium, virtually none of these will die. These are very rare; only about 1 in one million, so there could very well be interested people to buy them. You may have to just remove them as soon as they hatch. It’s just going to have to be up to you…..
