An antique cuckoo clock I want to save!!!!!?
I have a vey old clock that my Mom got from her Mom and her Mom before. It was put away and sort of forgotten about. I’m so determined to get it going as I’m so obsessed with clocks. The chains were out when I opened the old box. I put them back but I’m not sure if they are going in the right way. Do the chains have to go into the works on a certain side? Do the weights have to be at the center? If you can help me fix my great Oma’s clock..I’d be soooooooo happy!
The weights normally go on the outside however yours could be different. If you put the weight on one side and it just pulls the chain through the clock like it is winding it, put it on the other end of the chain. You don’t adjust the speed of the clock with the weights, you adjust it with the pendulum. Here’s a link with some good information on cuckoo clocks:

Google cuckoo clock and look at some pictures to see where the weights go. There’s a lot of good information on the web about old clocks. If you can’t figure it out you should try a clock shop to have them check it out and give you an estimate on repairs, if any are needed. This old clock should be worth the effort to do it right.
